Collective trauma.
Clients in crisis week after week.

If you’ve felt overwhelmed, overstimulated, or unsure how to contain escalating emotions in session — this was created for you.

Strengthen your clinical skills for high-stress times and walk away with practical DBT tools you can use immediately—in session and in life.

In times of ongoing crisis, political unrest, climate anxiety, and collective trauma, both clients and clinicians are experiencing elevated emotional dysregulation, burnout, and hopelessness. Traditional coping strategies often fall short when stressors are chronic, uncontrollable, and layered.

This 1.5-hour continuing education training provides a concise, practical overview of 10 core Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills specifically selected for high-stress, real-world conditions. Participants will learn how to apply these skills in moments of acute distress, emotional overload, and burnout—both in clinical work and personal practice.

The training emphasizes immediate usability, ethical self-application for clinicians, and flexible adaptation across client populations. Participants will leave with concrete language, micro-interventions, and teaching strategies to support regulation, resilience, and wise action when the world feels overwhelming.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify at least three indicators of emotional dysregulation associated with chronic stress and collective trauma.

  2. Describe the clinical purpose of selected DBT skills within distress tolerance and emotion regulation frameworks.

  3. Demonstrate the use of at least five DBT skills to support clients experiencing acute emotional distress.
